Lack of Consumer Confidence Misguided
Austin Hughes, Economist for IIB Homeloans was recently quoted in the press as saying that ‘a further interest rate rise is unlikely because economic growth in the Euro zone is softening and fears about inflation in the Euro zone are overdone’. He also proposed that, with strong signs of improvement for the housing market in the form of falling construction completions and what appears to be the end of interest hikes, the recently recorded low levels of consumer confidence in the housing market are simply misguided.
