2006: First Time Buyers V Second Time Buyers
According to the ESRI's House Price Index, Average National House Prices in 2006 increased more for Second Time Buyers than First Time Buyers in 2006, which is a complete turnabout compared to 2005. The average price paid for a house in December 2006 was recorded at €349,213 for Second Time Buyers and €279,003 for First Time Buyers. This compares to prices in 2005 of €249,499 and €311,168 respectively. Average National Price Growth for 2006 was 12.2% for Second Time Buyers and 11.8% for First Time Buyers compared to rates of 8.3% and 12.7% respectively in 2005.
